Tenneco Inc. (ticker: TEN, exchange: New York Stock Exchange) News Release - Friday, February 29, 2008

TENNECO INC. TO WITHDRAW LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE LISTING
Company Retains New York Stock Exchange Listing

Lake Forest, Illinois, February 29, 2008 – Tenneco Inc. (NYSE: TEN) today announced plans to withdraw the listing of its common stock from the London Stock Exchange, effective March 31, 2008. Tenneco’s common stock will continue to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange and the Chicago Stock Exchange.

Tenneco has decided to withdraw its listing from the London Stock Exchange because of the limited trading of its common shares on the London Stock Exchange and to reduce administrative costs inherent with multiple listings. Tenneco does not believe that withdrawing its listing from the London Stock Exchange will have any impact on the liquidity of its stock.

Tenneco is a $6.2 billion global manufacturing company with headquarters in Lake Forest, Illinois and approximately 21,000 employees worldwide. Tenneco is one of the world’s largest designers, manufacturers and marketers of emission control and ride control products and systems for the automotive original equipment market and the aftermarket. Tenneco markets its products principally under the Monroe®, Walker®, Gillet™ and Clevite®Elastomer brand names.
