The Road Ahead

Our Growth Strategy

We are developing advanced technologies and are well positioned to grow as a result of new vehicle emissions regulations and growing concern among consumers for safer and better handling vehicles. Our advances in emission and ride control technologies - including pioneering work in reducing diesel emissions - place us in a strong position to benefit from increased exhaust content and more safety features on future vehicles.

We are expanding in new geographical markets like China and Eastern Europe, where we have followed our customers and established successful operations.

Another growth opportunity is extending our traditional aftermarket business into service parts that are replaced more frequently than "hard parts" like mufflers and shock absorbers. We have launched an expanding line of car care products marketed under the DuPont Teflon name; begun marketing brake pads under the MonroeŽ brand; and introduced other products like filters.

Our strategy of targeting growth markets includes expanding our presence in the commercial and specialty vehicle markets, especially the exhaust market for heavy duty vehicles, which is growing due to new emissions regulations.

Focus on Growth Markets:

  • China - expanding our presence through joint ventures.
  • Japanese OEMs in North America - building and leveraging relationships.
  • Consumer Safety Concerns - incorporating electronics for improved vehicle stability.
  • Environmental Regulations - investing in proprietary emission technologies to capitalize on stricter standards.
  • Commercial Heavy Duty Trucks - leveraging our ride control presence to win new business in the growing exhaust segment.
  • Aftermarket Product Line Extensions - adding service parts to our core offerings.
