Lake Forest, Illinois, August 19, 2011 –Tenneco (NYSE:TEN) announced today that it will highlight its complete suite of innovative exhaust aftertreatment solutions and advanced ride control technologies at the IAA Motorshow in Frankfurt, Germany, September 15-25, 2011.

XNOx™ Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), XNOx™ combines Tenneco’s expertise in calibrating urea dosing systems with top-performing components such as the company’s XNOx injector to deliver an optimized solution with more than 95 percent NOx conversion efficiency. The process uses a chemical reaction to convert toxic NOx from engine emissions into harmless nitrogen and H2O, ensuring that Tenneco’s global customers are ready to meet the world’s increasingly stringent NOx emission standards and performance goals.
Thermal Regeneration Unit for Exhaust -T.R.U.E.-Clean®, Tenneco’s T.R.U.E.-Clean system provides diesel particulate filter regeneration under any conditions with reduced fuel penalty and improved backpressure engine performance, especially with cold-duty cycles in city traffic. T.R.U.E-Clean offers automatic active regenerating capabilities, and is unique in featuring flame stability control due to ion sensing. The thermal regeneration technology continuously monitors the diesel particulate filter’s temperature and soot levels. When the system senses that the filter should be cleaned, the unit automatically initiates the regeneration process while maintaining proper temperatures and controls until the regeneration cycle is complete.
Electrical Valve, a fully variable backpressure control valve, which enables vehicles using low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems to minimize NOx emissions. Installed in the exhaust systems downstream from the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF), it continuously adjusts the required pressure and re-circulates some of the vehicle’s exhaust gas back to the engine’s intake side. When combined with the OEM’s low pressure EGR system, which is designed to improve fuel economy compared to conventional high pressure EGR, the electrical valve can help to reduce NOx emissions by up to 50 percent, with little impact on exhaust system weight or performance.
Diesel Fuel Vaporizer, an external-dosing solution that provides efficient diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration. The Vaporizer uses an electrically heated glow plug to heat and evaporate diesel fuel, then introduce it into the exhaust stream directly before the DOC. Because the hydrocarbon injection enables DPF regeneration without oil dilution, the Vaporizer helps improve fuel economy compared to vehicles without this system and, therefore, contributes to a reduction in CO2 emissions. Its proprietary design works to virtually eliminate the clogging that is common with other vaporizers and also provides good diesel vapor distribution and low backpressure.
Fabricated manifolds, Tenneco’s family of fabricated manifold systems include shell, tubular and double-wall air gap insulated manifolds, all of which provide significant cost, weight, durability and packaging advantages when compared to cast manifolds.
Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension System (CES) 
CES is a semi-active suspension system that provides optimum driving safety and improves ride smoothness and NVH (noise, vibration and harshness), achieving the optimal balance between ride comfort and handling. The system changes the feel of a vehicle’s ride by continuously adjusting the shock absorber damping levels to road conditions and vehicle dynamics like speed, turning, cornering and driver inputs. The system was developed by Tenneco in conjunction with Öhlins Racing.
Building on the success of CES technology, Kinetic® H2/CES integrates the Kinetic® H2 system with CES technology. This system combines advanced mechanical and hydraulic systems with intelligent electronics, leading to a new suspension concept that improves vehicle dynamics, compared with other anti-roll systems. Earlier this year, Tenneco received the prestigious ‘Supplier of the Year’ award from Vehicle Dynamics International Magazine for its Kinetic technology.
Active Suspension Car (ACOCAR™) The ACOCAR™ fully-active suspension system includes actuators with two continuous variable CES valves each and features the addition of hydraulic pumps to bring energy to the suspension. This results in unsurpassed control on both damping and spring forces.
ACOCAR targets the next generation of conventional, hybrid or electric luxury vehicles with series production from 2015 on.
Advanced Self-Lubricating Elastomer Polymer, an elastomer formulation designed primarily for stabilizer bar pivot joint applications. The dry lubricant does not attract dirt, decreases assembly time and is ergonomically friendly.
