TENNECO EXHIBITS AT CHINA WIND POWER SHOW 2020
DEVA® self-lubricating, maintenance-free bearings reduce wind turbine downtimes and maintenance costs
Shanghai, China, Oct. 12, 2020 – Tenneco´s (NYSE: TEN) Powertrain business group will exhibit at China Wind Power Show 2020 in Beijing (Hall E1 booth C08, October 14-16) to demonstrate its DEVA brand´s self-lubricating maintenance-free bearings specifically developed for wind power applications. The proprietary solutions featuring leading material technology can effectively enable reduced downtime and maintenance costs, smooth operation as well as operational cost optimization for wind turbines.

Differentiating from standard grease-lubricated bearings, all DEVA branded bearings presented at the China Wind Power Show adopt self-lubricating maintenance-free materials, which can minimize wear and avoid the need for regular maintenance when working under high load, constantly changing working conditions and 24/7 operation.
Yaw Brake Pad with Optional Bronze Piston
One of the highlights presented on Tenneco’s booth is a spring-loaded passive Yaw Brake System made of deva.metal® MODULAR Standard disc assembled on a bronze piston. This system is designed for application in wind turbines with a yaw ball bearing to optimize damping and braking performance for silent operation. Tenneco’s unique deva.metal material has been widely used in the American wind turbine market with reliable operating lifetimes up to 14 years, while achieving reduced maintenance, downtime and noise-free operation.
Yaw Rim Sliding Pad for Dry and Greased Applications
Tenneco’s deva.tex® MODULAR MRO is a new generation of composite material sliding pad specially developed for wind yaw bearing applications. It is maintenance-free and does not require additional lubrication. If required, it can also be greased to prevent yaw rim from corrosion, or to eliminate stick-slip noise caused by oil leakage from the turbine. deva.tex material also provides excellent wear resistance and very good friction performance over a wide range of loads and operating speeds and thus eliminate fog horning to lowest level for a silent operation.
In addition to the deva.tex sliding pad, visitors to the Tenneco booth will be able to see a range of further products of the company´s Deva brand including the deva.tex composite rotor lock designed for safe operation during maintenance and emergency shutdown under special wind conditions.
At the show, Tenneco will also exhibit deva.glide® and deva.bm® self-lubricating bearings for hinged and slewing support systems of heavy cranes used to install offshore wind turbines. These maintenance-free bearings eliminate the necessity for regular maintenance service and can effectively resist corrosion in aggressive sea water environments. Compared to the rolling bearing designs, the application of DEVA self-lubricating bearings reduces the number of rotating parts and enables reliable operation of 10,000-ton floating cranes installed on offshore wind power ships.
