LAKE FOREST, ILLINOIS, AUGUST 14, 2002 - Tenneco Automotive (NYSE: TEN) announced today that Chairman and CEO Mark P. Frissora and Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Mark McCollum have submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission certifications relating to the company's 2001 Form 10-K and subsequently filed SEC reports. These actions are in response to a June 27, 2002 order by the SEC requiring large publicly traded companies to certify the absence of material misstatements and omissions from these reports and similar requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
