LAKE FOREST, ILLINOIS, APRIL 8, 2003 - Tenneco Automotive (NYSE: TEN) received Ford Motor Company's 2002 World Excellence Award in two categories, recognizing the company as one of Ford's top global suppliers in 2002.

Tony Brown, Ford vice president, global purchasing said, "Congratulations to Tenneco Automotive. You are one of Ford's most valuable partners. Without your extraordinary contributions, we could not have achieved many of our goals in 2002."

The Ford World Excellence Awards, the company's highest purchasing awards, annually recognize supplier dedication and superior performance. Forty-one suppliers from 13 countries won awards in various categories. Tenneco Automotive received the Silver World Excellence Award for its Gripper™ product, an innovative stabilizer bar technology. The Silver Award is given to suppliers that stand out in quality, delivery and cost.

The company also received a Recognition of Achievement Award in the Consumer Driven Six Sigma category, which recognizes supplier black belt projects that had a direct impact on Ford consumer satisfaction. Tenneco Automotive received the Consumer Driven Six Sigma award for a black belt project involving its catalytic converter technology at its emission control operations in South Africa.
