Tenneco Expands Japan Technical Center

Yokohama, Japan/Lake Forest, IL, April 22, 2016 - Tenneco (NYSE: TEN) announced today the expansion of its technical center in Japan.  Located in Yokohama, the facility provides engineering and product development services including a full range of product testing capabilities. The technical center supports Tenneco’s full line of Clean Air and Ride Performance products for applications including light vehicles, commercial trucks and off-highway equipment.

Technical Center Capabilities
The Tenneco Japan Technical Center features two engine dynamometers used in the testing of emissions control systems for both diesel and gasoline engines.  Additional emission control testing capabilities include an anechoic chamber for acoustic testing, cold flow bench for backpressure verification, thermal durability testing, hot vibration testing, system design and analysis, modeling, acoustic analysis and performance validation using advanced CAE tools.  

Tenneco’s technical center also offers testing capabilities for vehicle suspension products including predictive analysis, performance evaluation and acoustic testing.  To support development of complete ride performance systems, Tenneco Japan engineers also use two specially-designed mobile ride tuning vans to create custom solutions for customers. Working from these mobile laboratories on-site at a customer’s location, Tenneco engineers can create suspension systems optimized for a specific brand’s ride, handling and comfort characteristics.

The 6,800-square meter facility currently has 18 employees including engineering and testing personnel.
