DRiV Inaugurates Fully-Automated System at its European Aftermarket Distribution Center in Belgium
Willebroek, Belgium, April 25, 2023 DRiV, the aftermarket division of Tenneco, today officially inaugurated a fully-automated shuttle and packaging system at its European Distribution Center in Willebroek, Belgium. This $12 million investment in automation further improves customer service by delivering DRiV’s industry-leading automotive brands to where they need to be, faster.
The shuttle hosts all fast-moving articles, allowing DRiV to pick 60 percent of its order lines at up to seven times the speed of a manual operation. It features two aisles with triple deep storage containing 55.000 storage locations, 54 shuttles and four lifts capable of handling 1.170 double cycle lines per hour, both inbound and outbound. Picking accuracy is increased through pick to light stations as well as automatic weight control and rejection lanes.
Delivery to shipment cycle time is reduced by half using fully automated packaging lanes for the most frequently used box types. These lanes automatically insert documents, protect content, cut the box to height, close it and apply labels.

As e-commerce orders typically have few units per line of picking, automation makes it serviceable at an affordable cost.”
The shuttle is located in Belgium to support customers’ business with enhanced service options, increased inventory, greater parts availability and faster deliveries. Its proximity to the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam, Brussels international airport and major highways to Germany, France and the Netherlands make it a natural center of gravity for deliveries to Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

The automation project was completed in 18 months from engineering through installation to go-live. The order, storage and retrieval OSR Shuttle™ Evo was supplied and installed by KNAPP Industry Solutions.
